Stanford Robotics Laboratory,
Department of Computer Science,
School of Engineering,
The Leland Stanford Junior University (Stanford University)

The Stanford Robotics Lab is involved in research pertaining to all aspects of robotic manipulation and control. The Stanford Robotics Lab's primary focus is to engineer robots that can operate and interact with humans in unstructured environments. In addition, the Stanford Robotics Lab studies human motion and develops models that succinctly capture elegant human motions and manipulation skills, which allows the lab to program robots to move in a similar manner.

Brains in Silicon Lab (Boahen Lab),
Department of Bioengineering,
The Leland Stanford Junior University (Stanford University)

The Brains in Silicon Lab at Stanford University is led by Kwabena Boahen, professor of Bioengineering. The lab primarily focuses on building custom chips for modeling large-scale neural architectures ("Neuromorphic" computer architectures). Neurogrid, the lab's most recent custom system, gives the user the supercomputer-like ability to simulate 1 million neurons in real time. In addition to using Neuromorphics to gain a better understanding of the brain, the lab is also interested in the practical applications of these devices, including implementing robotic controllers and neural decoders for brain-machine interfaces.
