Beijing Bionic Robot and System Key Laboratory, affiliated with School of Mechatronical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology was founded in 2005. Throughout the past seven years, the laboratory has much influence on humanoid robots and has earned a prestigious reputation in the robotics community of China. Nowadays there are more than 100 faculty and students including an academician of China Academy of Engineering and a distinguished Changjiang scholar. The primary directions of research are humanoid robots, medical robots, and four-legged robots.

The Electronic Department belongs to the School of
Automation in Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). The school has now about
120 staffs, including 25 professors and 34 associate professors. Its
first-level discipline Control Science and Engineering and was among the top
ten in National discipline assessment in 2002 and 2006. The Electronic
Department undertakes the task of lecture and experimental courses for students
of several schools of BIT. Serving the development of industries is a very
important of part of its work. It has built cooperation relationships with many
companies, helping them establish efficient production lines.

School of Mechatronical Engineering, founded in the 50’s of last century, is one of the oldest schools in Beijing Institute of Technology. After more than half century’s reforming, construction and development, the school has formed an education entity with multi-disciplines at extensive levels. It is characterized with outstanding specific disciplines, powerful education sources and expanding educational scale. So far, the school has turned out more than ten thousand talents to the nation. Among them, there are 8000 undergraduate,3200 masters and nearly 1,000 PH.D students granted with academic degrees.
