Embedded control with EtherCAT for process and product performance
|
Abstract |
MKS Instruments has been providing leading edge control solutions for the past 20 years. In industries such as semiconductor, solar/photovoltaics and LED, customer needs are quickly turning towards tighter control to allow for improved yield and product performance. An example is the move from 300mm silicon wafers in the semi industry, to 450mm wafers. This change, expected to occur over the next 1-3 years, introduces increased challenges in wafer uniformity. With early adoption of EtherCAT in 2004, and shipments beginning in 2008, MKS is helping our customers achieve the required latency and determinism to ensure product performance. In this talk, MKS will address how the industries we work in are using these technologies, and the concept of the common platform that EtherCAT is helping to enable. General IO, temperature, motion, and safety can now all be combined into one safe and secure platform for improved process control. |
