Migration from Classical Fieldbus Technologies: Best Practise
|
Abstract |
Usually the
machine control design process does not
start with a plain white sheet of paper
– we have to take care of legacy systems
and protect investments in previous
technologies. Therefore we need a smooth
migration path that helps us to benefit
from the new technology while we can
still accommodate subsystems inherited
from the previous control system. In
this short presentation we will look at
successful examples of migrating
classical fieldbus architectures to
EtherCAT based systems. |
Speaker |
Dr. Guido Beckmann, Chairman Technical
Committee, EtherCAT Technology Group |
|
Guido Beckmann studied Electronic
Engineering at the Technical University
of Braunschweig, Germany. His particular
interest has always been the industrial
communication technology. While working
for a leading drive manufacturer he was
project manager for the development of
drive-integrated safety functions and
became an expert for functional safety.
Today he is part of the team in the
EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) and as
the chairman of the Technical Committee
he promotes and supports the worldwide
usage of EtherCAT in all kind of
applications. |
