EtherCAT meets application:
How to bring real-time to the
application layer (in inglese)
|
Riassunto: |
More and more
Industrial Automation requires Real-Time
communication and application
capabilities: Low latency, low jitter
and isochronous system behavior. With
the integration of an EtherCAT Slave
Controller (ESC) these requirements are
already fulfilled for the communication
part inside a factory automation
network. But what about the application?
With the R-IN32M3 device family Renesas
brings these Real-Time features also
into the application SW of EtherCAT
network nodes. With the ESC and several
hardware accelerators the R-IN MCU
subsystem is able to process EtherCAT
communication and application tasks in a
single chip with extreme low latency and
low jitter under ultralow power
conditions. |

Andreas Schwope studied in Germany at
the RWTH Aachen University and received
his diploma in Electrical Engineering
with a focus to Computer Engineering and
system design. After his study he
started his semiconductor career in
Aachen with designing ASICs, FPGAs and
video systems for ATM networks. After
joining NEC / Renesas in Düsseldorf in
1998 Andreas was responsible for the
implementation and project management of
ASICs and complex SoCs in the
communication arena. With a deep
technical knowledge in ASIC, SOC,
network and other related technologies
he is now responsible for the support of
R-IN32M3 devices and other Industrial
Ethernet products in the Industrial &
Communications Business Group / Smart
Factory of Renesas. |
