EtherCAT enables super fast control architectures

Abstract

Beyond its outstanding cycle time EtherCAT has additional features for super-fast control architectures. But what is the use case and how are those applied? The presentation contains practical examples and their results.

Dr. Guido Beckmann studied Electronic Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Industrial communication technologies have always been one of his peculiar interest. Today he is part of the EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) team and promotes and supports the worldwide usage of EtherCAT in all kind of applications.
While working for a leading drive manufacturer he became project manager for the development of drive-integrated safety functions and an expert for functional safety. Within ETG he is now responsible for the support of Safety over EtherCAT, which combines both topics – communication and safety.
