The RLC lab has been established with the goal of creating a symbiosis among different aspects of research in legged robots, including design, control, and biomechanics. Accordingly, the lab’s mission is defined in three main tracks: 1) investigation of optimal design methods to improve the performance of robotic systems, both in terms of efficiency and agility; 2) combining the nonlinear control theory with reduced-order models for design of highly stable and robust controllers;
and 3) study of human biomechanics to understand how humans' motions and maneuvers are controlled and conducted and how they can be replicated in robotic legs.
