The research at Aalto University's Fluid Power Laboratory focuses on designing efficient, effective, and practical fluid power systems. The research is conducted with the support of international industrial partners. The lab's current research topics include large-scale mobile machinery, passive and active vibration damping systems, electro-hydraulic actuators (EHA) and multi-pressure systems, high-performance accumulators, and waste-heat utilization.
The research into mobile machinery and vibration damping systems seeks to employ novel system topologies to enable electrification and better performance in real-world systems. Research into electro-hydraulic actuators, multi-pressure systems, and accumulators seeks to increase efficiency of hydraulic circuits at the component and circuit level. The waste-heat utilization topic seeks to obtain useful work extracting heat from industrial wastewater through a novel adsorption process. All this research is backed by experiments in software and on full-scale hardware test beds.
