The Institute of power electronic systems (ELSYS) of the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm covers applied research and development of systems for power electronics, drive technologies, embedded systems and software. The research focuses are smart grids, voltage quality, electric mobility, grid integration of electric vehicles, electronic power sources and electronic loads, energy-efficient power converters and drives, energy management, data networking of power electronic systems, control algorithms for hardware and software, modeling and simulation of power electronic systems and drives.

In the Control engineering laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Information Technology (efi), application-oriented research and development projects associated with control engineering methods are carried out in addition to teaching (laboratory sessions on control and automation engineering as part of the efi bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes).
