CI511-ETHCAT – EtherCAT Bus Module

• part of ABB AC500 PLC product range
• 8 DI, 8 DO, 4 AI and 2 AO 
• fast counter 
• 32 cam switches 
• 2ms clamp-to-clamp time (two bus cycles)

Each cam consists of:

• switch on and switch off action 
• the 32 cams can be mapped to any digital output
• an output can be mapped to one, several or none cams
• PLC program can disable or overwrite the cam state
• mapping is done during configuration

Each cam has the following input values. They can be re-configured on-the-fly, even via web server: 

• enable input for the cam
• first on position (in 1/100 degree of a rotation)
• last on position (in 1/100 degree of a rotation)
• dynamically adjustable compensation value related to speed
• preferred configuration tool is ABB's engineering suite ABB Ability™Automation Builder

System technique

• works with ABB's PLCopen motion control library PS552-MC or PS5611-MC
• ABB pre-wiring technology by terminal unit TU507-ETH or TU508-ETH
• two daisy-chain RJ45 connectors for comfortable Ethernet wiring
• max. 200 CI511-ETHCAT can be connected to a single CM579-ETHCAT master communication module
