Martin Rostan
Executive Director, EtherCAT Technology Group

Martin Rostan studied aerospace engineering in Germany and in the United Kingdom and received his diploma degree in 1992. Subsequently he managed the international research project that developed the initial CANopen technology. From 1996 until 1998 he was marketing manager and authorized officer at Selectron. Since 1998 he is with Beckhoff, first as senior product manager for Ethernet and fieldbus systems and since 2006 as head of technology marketing. Martin serves the fieldbus community in various committees: he is the executive director of the EtherCAT Technology Group, chairs the CANopen groups inside CAN in Automation and represents Beckhoff in ODVA and in several conference program committees. He also is technical expert in ISO and IEC standardization committees for industrial communication. With publications in magazines, text books, conferences and symposia he contributes to the dissemination of fieldbus and Ethernet technologies.

Hafez AlSayed
Managing Director Gulf Countries, Beckhoff Automation

Hafez AlSayed is an Electrical Engineering graduate from Ajman University with a focus on instrumentation and control. Hafez participated and attended several courses from Harvard business school- executive education. He has published three papers in his field. In addition to his professional background, Hafez is a member of the Global Young Presidents' Organization and the Young Arab Leaders organization. He has been working in Beckhoff Automation for the past ten years, including the past eight as the regional managing director for the GCC region. In this role, he has overseen the overall operation and profit and loss for the company. Hafez has a strong background in automation programming and technical and commercial solutions related to the automation industry, with a focus on strategic development in the GCC region for various sectors including robotics, digitalization, AI, machinery, building automation, and the process industry, particularly in the oil and gas sector. He is also an entrepreneur mentor in the Middle East and has participated in various technical conferences and committees including being executive and technical committee member for world utility congress by TAQA for 2022 and 2023, Hafez joined the Ajman University Industrial Advisory Board for the Electrical Engineering program in 2020. He also has a strong interest in blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFTs, data analytics, and the applications of AI in industry.
