IEC 61800-7 ("Adjustable speed electrical power drive systems - Part 7: Generic interface and use of profiles for power drive systems") specifies drive device profiles and their usage on digital communication systems. EtherCAT is part of this standard as communication technology for both for CiA DS402 and SERCOS drive profile.
